Rejuran Treatment: The Ultimate Guide to Polynucleotide Skin Healing

By Alex Donald, Registered Nurse | 15 August 2026

Rejuran is one of the most exciting developments in skin rejuvenation to reach New Zealand. Unlike traditional injectables that add volume or relax muscles, Rejuran works at a cellular level to repair and regenerate your skin from within. Here's everything you need to know.

What Is Rejuran?

Rejuran contains polynucleotides (PN) — purified DNA fragments derived from salmon. These polynucleotides are highly biocompatible with human tissue, meaning they integrate naturally and stimulate your skin's own repair mechanisms. What Does Rejuran Treat?

Rejuran is particularly effective for:

The Treatment Process

Consultation

I'll assess your skin and discuss whether Rejuran is the right treatment for your concerns. It's particularly suited to clients wanting to improve skin quality without adding volume.

During Treatment

A topical numbing cream is applied. Rejuran is injected superficially using a fine needle across the treatment area. The procedure takes 30-45 minutes. Some clients describe a slightly "spicy" sensation due to the polynucleotide formulation, but discomfort is manageable.

Aftercare

Small bumps at injection sites are normal for 24-48 hours. Mild redness may last 1-2 days. Most clients return to normal activities the next day.

How Many Sessions Do You Need?

Typically 2-3 sessions, 4 weeks apart, with maintenance treatments every 6-12 months. Results develop gradually as collagen production increases — you'll see initial improvement after 2-4 weeks, with continued improvement over 3-6 months.

Rejuran vs Profhilo vs Skin Boosters

This is a common question. In short:

All three improve skin quality, but through different mechanisms. They can be combined for comprehensive skin rejuvenation. Read our Profhilo comparison guide for more on how these differ.
